Quiz Actually have been running weekly pub quizzes in Portslade, Brighton, Hove & throughout East Sussex for over 11 years now after it all began at The Ancient Mariner in Hove. What started as hosting a quiz for a few free drinks, turned into a career for us. Pub quizzes are what we do best and by hosting several nights a week at pubs and venues for more than a decade, we have the perfect balance of tricky questions, fun rounds and varied difficulties for every player.
As Quiz Actually, we have created and hosted over 4000 quizzes in that time, taking every bit of feedback from every single round and constantly improve our nights to make the pub quiz the best it can be for every quiz lover that attends.
How Our Pub Quizzes Work
Every pub quiz has five rounds, we start at 8 pm prompt and generally finish at 10 pm. Every single question appears on screen as well as being read aloud by our hosts. We cover everything from ancient history to reality TV and anything in-between.

We’ve made rounds based on game shows, themed quiz nights, music quizzes, film quizzes and much more. We don’t create quizzes to make you feel stupid, we make quizzes that make you feel accomplished!
Scores appear onscreen, we give you flags to see who your rivals are plus we have prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd AND 2nd to last.

A Monday night staple in Portslade, the Railway Quiz has been running weekly since 2015 and in that time we’ve racked up over 240 quizzes. Regularly packing out the spacious pub to max capacity (27 tables), the Railway Quiz is our most talked-about weekly quiz. There’s even 2-4-1 Nachos on Monday nights (Tell them we sent you)

Love the quizzes on a Monday night at the Railway in Portslade. The banter, great varied quiz rounds and friendly, relaxed atmosphere are a great way to start the week. The quiz masters, Mark and Alex, are professional and have a great rapport with the teams. With many other nights at other pubs around Brighton and Hove, I would and do recommend people go and enjoy.

Despite the fact we rarely trouble the top of the leaderboard, The Railway quiz is consistently good fun. Mark, Alex and the rest of the team are consummate professionals, funny (sometimes intentionally so) and enthusiastic.
If only we knew something about that wizard boy we’d be in with a chance of some cash!
